You can shoot .410 out of a 45-70 but they won’t eject and the patterns will be very bad. All the rest are no-no’s I have no intention of mixing any of this ammo, or doing any thing foolish. Starting with say, a 45-70 chambeed rifle, What will go in and fire?
Can a 410 shotgun be used as a 45/70 rifle?
A .410 shotgun is made to safely shoot .410 shotgun ammo. It ain’t gonna happen.
This of course begs the inquiry “Will a 410 round fit in a 45 Colt?”
The most usefull answer is; depending on how tight your chamber is, 45 Colt, and 454 Casull, might – just might – catch the lip and chamber. Accuracy should suck. I’ve heard that 410 will work in 45/70 rifles.
What’s the difference between a 45 Colt and a 45/70?
First you need to look at the specs for the cartridges. As you can see, the 45 Colt rim is only 0.512″ in diameter, while the case body below the rim of the 45/70 is 0.505“. Depending on how tight your chamber is, 45 Colt, and 454 Casull, might – just might – catch the lip and chamber.
How old do shells have to be to be considered fossils?
The remains of an organism must be at least 11,000 years old to be considered a fossil, although most people would consider something 9,000 or 10,000 to be a fossil. Most shells on the beach are probably not very old, although they may look it from rolling around in the surf.
Can shells be fossils?
Bones, shell s, feathers, and leaves can all become fossils. Fossils can be very large or very small. Microfossil s are only visible with a microscope.
S hells are preserved without being dissolved only when they are buried in sediments that consist of calcium carbonate minerals, like limestones. Most animals become fossilized by being buried in sediment. For them to be fossilized, they have to be buried and leave an imprint before they decompose.
Fossils are heavier than shells as they are formed on a rock. You can try to match up the unique markings on the shell with glossaries found online on natural history museum websites to try to work out what type of animal left the marking.
While I was researching we ran into the question “Where are our shells and fossils from?”.
Our shells are from the Indo-Pacific region of Asia which includes the tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific oceans. Our fossils are from the Sahara Desert in Morocco.
How can you tell if a shell is a fossil?
Most fossil shells come from ancient sea floor or lake bed deposits like those in Florida, Italy, Poland, etc, that have been dated to earlier geologic time periods. Many Tertiary period shells can look like they died yesterday, so even if you did find a fossil, it would be pretty hard to know for sure unless you knew it was extinct.
What is a seashell fossil?
Seashell fossils are formed when a sea animal with a shell dies and their body and shell begin to decompose. Seashell fossils are more common than other fossils because the shell is hard and therefore more likely to be preserved, compared to organisms with only soft tissue. Animals without a shell or bones hardly ever become fossilized.
One of the most common samples of fossils include different types of fossilized shell, these are also called ammonites, which are fossils of coiled up shells. These kinds of seashell fossils are from animals that lived in the sea between 240 and 65 million years ago.
