Chipotle is bringing its customers even more convenience in the form of drive-thru lanes., and that’s right. You will soon be able to satisfy your craving for a Chipotle burrito bowl without having to leave the comfort of your car. In 2019, Chipotle is going to open several new Chipotles that will feature a drive-thru lane.

Will the new drive-thru lanes help Chipotle’s success in 2020?
CEO Brian Niccol said in an earnings call that Chipotle plans to more than double its locations. With promising results from the fourth quarter of 2020, the new drive-thru lanes look like a key to the chain’s continued success.
We should dig a little deeper! Chipotle Mexican Grill will move to a different location at the Tacoma Mall at the end of March when it reopens in the former Pier 1 building. The site, at 4301 S. Steele St, features the chain’s newest concept: a drive-thru pickup window. The drive-thru, which the restaurant calls a “Chipotlane,” isn’t for ordering.

Will Chipotle’s drive-thru lanes boost online orders?
Chipotle has plans to open “a few dozen” Chipotlanes at new locations according to Niccol. “Arguably, it will be the fastest way to get Chipotle — going through the Chipotlane,” he said. The drive-thru lanes are supposed to help boost online/digital orders, as well as give the fast casual spot freedom to get creative with different types of stores.
The drive-thru, which the restaurant calls a “Chipotlane,” isn’t for ordering. Instead, customers must place their to-go orders in advance using Chipotle’s app, and then pick their orders up at the window. The new restaurant will also offer a dine-in option where customers can order in person.
The doors advertised contactless pickup and delivery, although you could also go inside and order at the counter. For online orderers who opted not to use the drive-thru, a pickup counter had orders set out by last name. But we weren’t here for that. Outside, signs directed drivers to the drive-thru.
Can you pick up at Chipotle without a speaker?
There’s no speaker to give a staffer your order, like you’d find at traditional drive-thrus. At the Chipotle version – which is billed as a “mobile order pick-up lane” – you have to mobile-order and then you go to the Chipotlane to pick up your food.
