Sears sold Craftsman to Stanley for $900 million because it had to raise cash.
The department store will sell the Craftsman name to Stanley Black & Decker. Sears announced today that it has agreed to sell the Craftsman brand to Stanley Black & Decker after controlling the iconic name in tools for 90 years.
The terms of the sale include $525 million to be paid this year when the deal closes, $250 million after the third year, and Sears will also receive a percentage of Stanley’s Craftsman sales for 15 years. After that time, Sears will start paying Stanley a percentage of its own Craftsman sales.
Stanley bought Sears’ Craftsman tool line last year, relaunched the brand at the Craftsman Garage in Middle River. (Kim Hairston / TNS) Stanley Black & Decker filed a federal lawsuit this week claiming that Sears has violated an agreement that limited how the struggling retailer could market the Craftsman brand of tools.
After that time, Sears will start paying Stanley a percentage of its own Craftsman sales. The sale is truly the end of an era, as both Sears and Craftsman have been associated with American manufacturing and craftsmanship for almost a century. The tool brand and the store that sells it are practically synonymous.

The bottom area of the rubber gasket where the drain holes are is one of the worst spots for washing machine smells. I wipe mine down every few loads.
Another reason why washing machines start to smell is due to debris stuck in the drain pump in the machine. Cleaning out the drain pump will help get rid of things that are blocking proper water flow within the machine. Front-load washers normally have a filter or trap within the drain pump .
If you have never used a front load washing machine, it can be shocking to see just how little water there is during the washing cycle. The clothing will start to absorb the water and the machine will begin to add enough water to maintain the correct water level .
