Although Sephora as a brand do not test their finished products on animals, they nevertheless pay others to test their products on animals “where required by law”. This means that Sephora is not cruelty-free.
Update: Sephora has now release the following statement about their stance on animal testing. Sephora does not test Sephora Collection or Sephora Original products on animals, and we do not ask others to do so on our behalf, unless it is required by law in specific countries where we operate.
As for companies that do test on animals, the list is long: Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Benefit, Estée Lauder, Clinique, the Sephora brand, Bobbi Brown, Givenchy, Make Up For Ever, Marc Jacobs Fragrances — not to be confused with Marc Jacobs Beauty –, and more.
This has been our policy since long before the directives regulating animal testing in cosmetics went into effect in the European Union in 2004.
A: Fresh does not test our products on animals. We are deeply committed to the elimination of animal testing. We actively participate in validation studies of new alternative tests in the framework of the European cosmetics association, Cosmetics Europe.
Then, do any companies sell their products in China and test on animals?
Those that aren’t may be found on PETA, and I’ve personally verified their animal testing policies by e-mail to make sure they don’t test on animals at any point during production. None of the companies below sell their products in China or test on animals where required by law.
Are the Sephora makeup brushes cruelty free?
The sephora makeup brushes are cruelty free . I totally agree and that’s what I’ve been trying to do…up until now. The amount of CF brands being eaten up by non CF brands is ever growing (tarte, nyx, Nars, UD to name a few) and it’s becoming more limited and difficult to find brands (and therefore products!) that work.
Is Sephora a good place to buy cosmetics?
For many, big stores like Sephora are one of the main places where they purchase cosmetics, skincare, and hair care. It’s easy to have one store where you can take care of so much shopping.
You should be asking “Are Sephora cosmetics made in China?”
One source stated however, it should be noted that the Sephora Collection cosmetics are made in China, making this an unlikely possibility. I first heard about this possible change from a reader (thank you, Sarah!) and was sent the link to the Sephora brand being sold on the Sephora China site by fellow cruelty free blog The Rabbit Hops .
Why are you sending clients to Sephora?
You are sending clients into Sephora under the impression that over half the present brands are not mindful when many of them contribute more to the environment and cruelty free laws than brands sold in China.
