Postpay Device Unlocking Policy Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase. Devices that you purchase from one of our authorized retailers are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently.
Verizon has a 60-days lock policy, after that, your device will automatically unlocked and you would not have to maintain much unlock criteria. Everything will done by Verizon, which means after that period, you can switch your carrier. If you will be unable to unlock your device, you can consider an alternative carrier that is listed above.
Verizon phones come unlocked by default which means you should be able to use them on another carrier if you wish, just make sure to verify this with your carrier before switching to a cheap cell phone plan.
At this time, Verizon no longer locks most of its 4G LTE and 3G devices to its network. The only phones locked to Verizon’s network are non-i. Phone 3G World Devices and Prepaid Phone-in-the-Box devices, which can be unlocked with a few exceptions.
Locked means that you can only use your phone on the Verizon net work . You will be unable to use cellular service either via SIM card or e. SIM with any other provider until the device is unlocked. You can, however, still use Wi-Fi, which we will discuss in more detail below.
How do I unlock my Verizon phone if I’m in the military?
If you are a Verizon Wireless customer in the military and receive relocation orders outside of the Verizon Coverage Area, we will unlock your device at your request, even during the 60-day-lock period following the purchase of your device.
Can I use my locked Verizon phone internationally?
If you are travelling internationally and your device is locked, you can sign up for one of Verizon’s international services to stay connected. To use your device on another carrier’s SIM card and network, you must meet our device unlocking requirements.
